When planning for a new six-level parking garage structure began as part of a $170 million expansion of Community Hospital North in Indianapolis,the project team faced the hurdle of finding an innovative building material that was not only aesthetically appealing,but functional in its security and safety capabilities.
"We need a product that would offer ventilation,fall protection and safety,"explains Mark Hayden,project manager. It also required a unique ,attractive exterior building material.
Architectural mesh,an increasingly popular trend in U.S.building design,is a flexible woven stainless steel fabric boasting visual appeal and extreme functionality.
