From the consultants parking efficiency: finding those "hidden" parking spaces

多年来，我一直就职于世界最大的停车场经营公司之一，为各种停车设施重新设计停车布局是我的职责。设计中最重要的环节是找出那些"隐藏"的停车位，几乎所有的停车设施都有这样的部分。令人吃惊的是，一些停车设施的改造太容易了，只需对停车布局、残疾人停车区和全部的行人和车辆通行道进行简单的修改即可。经过改造，停车位增加5-10%是很平常的，有的能增加20%，更高比例的情况偶尔也会出现。有些情况下，原有的布局设计也能接受，不过随着时间的推移，由于场地布局的变化、对场地改造的各种尝试、解决具体用户的需要等因素，也需要对布局进行某些修改。我们认为，从功能角度来说通常最合适的布局，也是最有效率的布局。

For years, while working for one of the world's largest parking operating firms, it was one of my responsibilities to provede re-designed parking layouts for many of its parking facilities. Basically,the desire was to find those "hidden" parking spaces that are quite often a part of all parking facilities. It was always amazing how easily some parking facilities could be improved just through some simple modifications to the parking configuration, accessible parking areas and overall vehicular and pedestrian traffic flow.
