The benefits of valet parking-convenience and customer service-can often be out weighted by negatives such as damage claims and inefficiencies. Technology-driven valet parking systems can eliminate these headaches, moving traditional parking service operations to a new plateau.

A system developed by Computerized Valet Parking Systems (CVPS), introduced last year, combines handheld PCs, digital cameras, self-serve request kiosks, point-of-sale terminals, and barrier gate arms to form a complete parking solution. The obvious benefit is the ability to process vehicles more quickly and in greater numbers for better customer service. The system also provides the ability to track employee activity for accountability and performance, protect against fraud due to illegitimate damage claims, and enhance customer service through self-service kiosks and automatic recognition of VIPs.
