Life can seem like las Vegas in the insurance world, with the insurance companies as the high-stakes gamblers and the parking operators as the dealers. The insurance soft-market cycle, which returns with predictable regularity every 5 to 10 years, is a result of actions taken by these gamblers and dealers.

There are two essential points that parking operators need to remember. First, they must choose agents who are experienced in analyzing the insurance needs of their kind of parking operation; who understand the unique risks of the parking industry; and who have adequate expertise in placing appropriate coverage with knowledgeable insurers.
