Colleting tickets: Are you of your pigeonhole?

As industry veterans will recall, in the "old days" before the fee computer, the typical parking cashier "pigeonholed" their tickets. The pigeonhole was a small shelf with multiple compartments, each opening designated for a price category, i.e.$1, $2, $20, etc.
As a cashier collected tickets from customers, the ticket was filed in the appropriate price bin. At the end of the shift, cht cashier counted the tickets in each bin and recapped the numbers on a manual shift report. The shift and tickets, bundled by category would then be turned in. Later, an auditor would check the shift report. The shift report and tickets, bundled by category would then be turned in. Later, an auditor would check the shift report's accuracy by physically counting the tickets in each bundle, occasionally inspecting the tickets to insure they were properly categorized and recorded. The auditor would check, among other things, to make sure a $10 ticket was not labeled, bundled and counted as a $1 ticket, with the cashier pocketing the difference.
