对于大学和学院的停车管理办公室来说，对自行车承担起看管责任是件很普遍的事。很少的自行车架、单独的自行车道、和行人的冲突、自行车注册和被盗，都是大多数大学停车办公室需要关心的问题。在大城市，当学生把自行车当成主要交通工具时，这个问题就更复杂。一个新的解决校园车辆被盗的方法已经在俄亥俄州立大学推行，就是采用RFID技术打击校园里的盗窃自行车的行为。这个方式似乎很吸引学生--他们认为它很"酷"。

It is not unusual for college and university parking offices to have some responsibility for bicycles. Too few bicycle racks, exclusive bike paths, conflicts with pedestrians, bicycle registration and theft are concerns on most college and university campuses. In major metropolitan areas, the issue is compounded when students use their bicycles as a primary means of transportation. A new approach to campus bicycle theft has recently been implemented at The Ohio State University and seems to appeal to students-they think its "cool"!

Using radio frequency identification device (RFID) technology, bicycles may be uniquely marked to help prevent theft, promote recovery and prove ownership.
