在历史性商业中心区设计多种交通工具换乘站(英文)
Designing multi-modal stations within historic downtowns
Shannon Sanders Mcdonald概述了在历史性商业中心区设计一个多种交通工具换乘站的独特挑战,并详细说明了Nebraska大学一班建筑系学生为此制作的设计方案。
正文:
Throughout the history of the United States, the architecture
of transportation linkages has become more complex as transportation
choices have expanded. The great train halls of yesteryear have
evolved into today's bus terminals that combine automobile parking
and bus linkages.
Chicago's Loop Transportation Center, built in 1984, is almost
a city unto itself, exemplifying the trend of expansion and complexity
of the multi-modal building type. Today, even small cities are seeing
a need to study and understand the ossibilities of the multi-modal
facility.
……
At the conclusion of the project, the students were beginning to
understand the complexity of designing for roads, rail, parking,
and people. While every student proposal had its own unique set
of issues and parameters, the basic ones mentioned here of where
and how to connect parking with existing and new forms for transportation
within an historic urban fabric is an issue that we will see much
more of in the years to come.
