Parking for Transit Oriented Development :Stakeholder Perspectives

As part of encouraging Smart Growth or Transit Oriented Development (TOD), communities are revising associated parking policies.The Metropolitan Transportation Commission of the Bay Area recently sponsored a Smart Growth Parking Project to encourage adoption of new parking policies in conjunction with emerging TODs.Part of the project assessed stakeholder viewpoints on TOD parking policies.This paper summarizes findings from stakehlder assessments in two case studies cities for the project and draws conclusions about enhancing the acceptance and political feasibility of TOD parking policies.
