像纽约、芝加哥、洛杉矶、波士顿和华盛顿这样的大城市都已经认识到，要保持中心商业区的经济活力，停车税不能高于18%。

Certain San Francisco city agencies and politicians are once again looking to solve planning and budgetary problems by arbitrarily over-taxing one industry-the parking industry. Unlike any other industry, parking operators in San Francisco have shouldered the burden of a city tax at 25% for years. Recent proposals are now requesting that tax be increased to 35%, which might make it the highest in the nation!

San Francisco's policymakers have always tried to be creative when looking for solutions to traffic management and raising city tax revenues, but the solution to much of the current financial dilemma could be solved if the city would simply enforce existing regulations and laws more efficiently and effectively. The owners and managers of parking facilities are doing their part. Now Muni and the city need to do theirs.
